Welcome to the fascinating world of Finnish new solo singing!
FinnMusic.fi is dedicated to new Finnish art songs.
Here you will find information on thousands of Finnish art songs composed since 1950. We want to promote their success and ensure the renewal and continued vitality of our fine art song tradition.
Thousands of songs, hundreds of artists, a lot of notes, a lot of recordings
Details of works and their creators are available for 4,600 songs. Sheet music can be viewed for 1,700 songs, and recordings can be listened to for 870. There are 250 composers, 700 lyricists, and 400 performers on the recordings. The works were composed in the 1950s or later. This brings to light treasures of more recent song music that have been overshadowed by older song music.
Versatile search options
You can search for works by composer, poet, vocal range, language or year of composition. The website contains information not only about works, but also about composers, poets and performers.
With the material pass, make the songs audible and the sheet music visible
The site features are freely available to registered users. To access the sheet music and listen to audio recordings, an "Aineistopassi" (Content Pass) must be purchased.
You can create your own sheet music library or playlist.
When you find works that interest you, you can easily acquire their sheet music to add to your own collection. Similarly, from recordings, you can compile a playlist that you can listen to by streaming from the site.
From our online shop, you can purchase sheet music for immediate use.
Our online shop offers sheet music for 1,700 compositions. Our publishing partners include Fennica Gehrman, Sulasol, and Edition Tilli. Fairtrade music
Composers, poets, performers, publishers and record producers, all important links in culture, will benefit financially from the online shop and the Data Pass. The administrators of this website do not seek material gain from their activities. The Finnish Music Support Association, which manages the website, is an idealistic, non-profit organisation.
Support is needed
Maintaining a website does not happen on its own or for free. Internet services cost money, and services must be purchased from external providers. Adding new material to the website incurs costs: sheet music must be edited, and recordings must be acquired. Copyright fees must also be handled properly.
Copying without permission and distributing material in disregard of copyright is saving money the wrong way. It leaves composers, poets, publishers, and performers without the remuneration they are due. Even small income streams are important to them and to our association. Membership fees and the purchase of an 'Aineistopassi' (Materials Pass) support song music both materially and spiritually.
As a registered and logged-in user, you can use the FinnMusic.fi search without restrictions and see what new Finnish songs have been composed. Familiarising yourself with sheet music and listening to recordings additionally requires purchasing a Material Pass.
As a holder of a material pass, you can put together your own selection of sound recordings and create playlists. You can create your own sheet music collection from the music you purchase. Not all works have sheet music or recordings, but there is sheet music for 1,700 works and recordings for over 870. We pay composers, lyricists, performers and recording producers their respective shares for listening.
